The castle was originally built as a fortified mansion shortly after 1300 in an area ‘bordered by swamps and ponds’. It is situated on an estate of over 10 hectares with deciduous woods, a pond and waterways and a 19th century coach house, a chapel, a forester’s house and a gatehouse. Oud-Poelgeest is very suitable for conferences, meetings and festivities. The rooms are situated in the Castle, the Coach House and in the Oranjerie. There are 5 meeting rooms in the characteristic Coach House, including the Boerhaavezaal. This former hayloft provides space to 100 people. In addition to the Boerhaavezaal, there are four meeting rooms which are perfect as break-out meeting rooms or reception areas. In the castle are various period rooms. All the rooms, with names such as ‘de Oude Mangelkamer’ and ‘de Wapenzaal’, have natural daylight, vary from 25 to 120 m2 and have been equipped with all possible meeting facilities. There are several conference packages.
The romantic Drakenzaal is very suitable for performing wedding ceremonies. The coach house can be used for a reception, dinner, party or wedding. With good weather the patio at the water can be used. The 45 hotel rooms and the reception area are situated in the (modern) side building of the former coach house. The meetings contribute to the preservation of this cultural heritage. It enables restoration, maintenance and embellishments of the listed property at the Oud-Poelgeest estates. Over the past years, the arched bridge and the ceiling of the Drakenzaal have been restored.
