In the attic of the historic Scheltema building in Leiden, de Veenfabriek creates cheeky, playful, and engaged music theater. With text, music, food and technology they make newly written and composed interdisciplinary performances that address all senses.
Under the inspiring leadership of director Joeri Vos the theatre company presents innovative and contemporary music theater in concert halls, festivals, and theatres throughout the Netherlands.
The actors and makers of de Veenfabriek regularly open their doors for a ‘Veenproef’. The audience is invited to join an adventurous tasting of delicious food, scenes and music from their newest performance. Join us for a creative, culinary and inspiring evening. With guest speakers we’ll dive deeper into the themes of the performance. For example, we previously explored the fine meshes of international law, delved into local care work, and had conversations with AI. De Veenfabriek was founded in 2004 by Paul Koek. Since 2020, Joeri Vos is the artistic director. Vos' work at the Veenfabriek is praised for the new way in which music and text flow together associatively and intuitively and reinforce each other.
