The Historical Trekvaartdag brings the history of the cities to life! During the Historical Trekvaartdag there are plenty of free activities that allow visitors to learn all about Leiden in the 17th century. From Rembrandt van Rijn to the Pilgrims.
On Sunday 15 September, the activities of the Historical Trekvaartdag will be combined with the Open Monument Days. The theme ‘Heritage of routes, networks and connections’ fits in seamlessly this year; the towpaths contributed to the spectacular economic growth in the early 17th century. At that time, Leiden was a hub of towpath connections.
